Hedge Trimming

Here at CG Arborist Services, tree trimming and pruning services are a big part of the kind of projects we take on because we prioritize helping homeowners maintain their trees and shrubs, not just remove them.

Why should you trim your hedges?

Trimming your hedges on a recurring basis, usually every year or every other year depending on your preference and how fast they grow, is essential to keeping them maintained and from getting too overgrown. We offer both one-time and recurring maintenance plans for hedge trimming and shrubs.

Can you trim a hedge that's very overgrown?

We do trim hedges that are overgrown, but there are limits of what can and what shouldn't be done. For instance, if a hedge has grown to a considerable height and a customer wants it to be much shorter, what we typically tell people is that there's only so much you can take off of the hedge at once before you risk causing damage or harming the health of the trees. It also depends on the species of trees planted, as different trees respond differently to aggressive trimming and pruning techniques. Some trees you might be able to take more off than others, and other trees you may need to be more careful not to take as much off. While not always ideal, generally our recommendations for situations like this would be to either trim the hedges to try and improve shape / appearance and make them more manageable without taking too much off, or completely removing the hedge and if desired, planting something smaller and more manageable.

Do you get rid of the trimming debris?

Yes, cleanup and removal of trimming debris is included in the quote unless otherwise specified by you. We do offer a discount pricing option for no-cleanup projects, where we would just take care of the trimming part and leave the debris.

I can trim the sides of my hedge but can't reach the top, can you help?

We do offer trimming services for only parts of a hedge if you opt to take care of part of it yourself and only need assistance with specific sections, like the top for example; or perhaps trimming just your side if your neighbor takes care of the side facing them. However you choose to go about maintaining your hedge, our general recommendation is that if you are going to trim your hedges, to make sure you trim all parts in order to prevent uneven growth / appearance.
